I agree with you Cheri. What this woman is doing is actually disgracing the tenets that this country was founded on. The founding fathers of this country left a country that imposed it's choices on it's people. They came here for the freedom to choose their way of life. People have gone to war and lost their life defending the rights of this country, but that INCLUDES the right and the freedom NOT to vote. This woman spits on that with what she is doing, she is disgracing the lives of those who died.
If people did a little research, they would find that Jehovah's Witnesses have participated in the process, because their vote is for Theocracy (God's Goverment), the same goverment that many pray for in the Lord's prayer. It is not a cop out. To be neutral as commanded by God and demonstrated by Jesus Christ is hard at times. Jesus was persude to be King, but he fled to the mountains, stating his kingdom was not of this world.
Also, if you research the Supreme Court, Jehovah's Witnesses have fought to change laws, that not only benefited them, but people of other faiths. They also support and obey the laws of the land, as long as they do not conflict with God's law. How many people vote and brag that they support their goverment, then turn around and not obey speeding or tax laws or other laws. So are they REALLY supporting their goverment?????

Hi Denise and thanks for stopping by!
I completely agree with you and I was completely appalled both by the woman, and by the poster with whom I had the discussion on the other blog. I am thinking about writing a letter to her to complain about this. She's probably already gotten plenty of letters and complaints, but she clearly doesn't understand that while what she is doing is technically legal, she's clearly violating the privacy of these people.
Actually, I wonder if there is a basis for a lawsuit? For the record, I should also mention that the paper that printed the names was a community newspaper that is geared toward blacks and the urban population Nashville.
I also agree with you that choosing to bow out of the political process for religious reasons is perfectly acceptable, and NOBODY should have anything to say about this.
Even as I write this I absolutely CANNOT believe that people actually think they have the right to force their moral values on others. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
